"Wines from the Danube Coast"
The GAMANOVIĆ Vineyards stretch across nearly 30 hectares on the right bank of the Danube in the village of Kostol-Kladovo, near the legendary Trajan’s Bridge. The winery also includes a high-capacity wine house with a restaurant serving both international and local cuisine.
The flagship variety is "Grašac Beli", an indigenous Serbian grape, from which we develop multiple wine styles. This allows wine enthusiasts to taste fresh or aged wines from this variety, as well as those with minimal intervention, barrel-aged wines, and even orange wines.
Brief History:
The winery was founded in 2006 under the name "Duša" ("Soul") by the French couple Cyril Bonjiro and Estelle Germain—the latter being the daughter of the owners of Château de Chorey in the renowned Burgundy region. This couple, who moved from France to Kladovo with their three children, applied their ancestral knowledge and expertise to the famous Kladovo vineyards, originally planted in the 1970s as a state project. They crafted an exceptional white wine named "Soul of the Danube."
In January 2020, the winery was acquired by Milisav and Miroslav Gamanović, owners of D.O.O. "Gaman" from Kladovo, who renamed it "Gamanović Winery." The new owners, a father-and-son duo, continue a long-standing family tradition of viticulture and the production of premium wines and brandy.
About the Vineyards:
The vineyard is located in the Negotin Wine Region, a key viticultural area known for its exceptionally favorable climate for grape cultivation. The sandy, permeable soil along the Danube, the highest number of sunny and warm days in Serbia, the reflection of sunlight off the Danube’s surface, and the well-ventilated vines due to winds from the Iron Gate Gorge, along with minimal annual spraying, create ideal conditions for producing top-tier wines.
Combined with the expertise of one of the most skilled and experienced enologists—a wine specialist with 55 years of experience in winemaking—this forms the perfect foundation for crafting high-quality wines.
Stories from the Cellar:
The winery’s capacity is around 60,000 liters, with current production at 30,000 liters and plans for growth—strictly based on quality. With 30 hectares of cultivated vineyards and plans to expand to 46 hectares, Gamanović Winery boasts the largest vineyard in Eastern Serbia.
New plantings are planned, focusing on a mix of local indigenous and premium international grape varieties. Our cellar produces the following labels: Grašac Beli, Samotok, Grašac Barrique, Tamjanika, Rosé, Merlot, Cuvée Cabernet Sauvignon & Merlot.
Alongside wines, we also dedicate attention to distillates, developing a distillery for aged brandies and wine spirits.
Wine Culture:
The striking, artistically crafted wine labels aim to showcase the rich terroir where our wines are born, while also reflecting the extraordinary climate and breathtaking cultural landscape of the Iron Gate region.
With its new identity, Gamanović Winery highlights the uniqueness of this wine-growing region, as well as the cultural heritage of Kladovo and the Iron Gate Gorge. In line with this vision, we emphasize the development of Serbia’s indigenous Grašac variety and are creating a wine house that will offer wine lovers, travelers, and hedonists a complete sensory experience.
